Muslim Hands launches tree plantation drive in AJK

MIRPUR (AJK), Jul 23 (APP):United Kingdom based global NGO – Muslim Hands International on Tuesday launched tree plantation drive  in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
“Over 20 thousand sapplings of friendly trees will be planted in Mirpur”, the organisation’s spokesperson Raja Qamar Atta told media at the inaugural ceremony of the campaign at central Naangi Shopping Centre.
City Mayor, Usman  Khalid Ali Chaudhry, Deputy Commissioner Mirpur, Yasir Riaz Chaudhry,  Senior Superintendent of Police Kamran Ali, Chief Officer City Municipal Corporation, Mughees Riaz Chaudhry  and other dignitaries representing diverse segments of the civil society planted the saplings of different nature on the occasion.
At least 0.20 million trees are proposed to be planted in various parts of AJK including districts Mirpur, Kotli and Bhimbher during the campaign, the spokesperson added.
Speaking on this occasion Deputy Commissioner, Mirpur, Yasir Riaz, SSP  Kamran Ali and city Mayor  Usman Ali Chaudhry lauded  ‘Muslim Hands’ initiatives in various social welfare fields, besides serving the sick humanity in various parts of the world including AJK.
The mayor expressed his determination to work together with the assistance and support of the ‘Muslim Hands’ to ensure  the lake city a healthier place for everyone.
He assured all sort of support for the success of the drive.
