RAWALPINDI, Feb 26 (APP):The Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) has thwarted two attempts to smuggle flour into Murree District, a Murree administration spokesman said on Thursday.
He said the PERA Special Operations team, in a successful operation under the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, intercepted commercial vehicles at designated check posts. During searches, large quantities of flour were recovered and taken into custody in accordance with legal requirements.
The seized stock, the spokesman added, was later sold at government rates in areas experiencing high demand, providing immediate relief to the public. Vehicle owners were also present during the process to ensure transparency and compliance with the law.
He said the operation reflected the district administration’s determination to take strict action against hoarding and smuggling and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the uninterrupted supply of essential commodities to citizens.
