MULTAN, Jul 22 (APP):In line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Multan has accelerated its public service initiatives to improve mulacross the city.
Managing Director WASA, Khalid Raza Khan, paid a surprise visit to Nawabpur Road and Peer Ghora Shah Wali Street to review the progress of an ongoing development project. He inspected the 335-foot long, 18-inch diameter sewerage line installation, which is now in its final phase. He directed the team to immediately complete the remaining three pipe installations.
The completion of this project is expected to provide significant relief to residents of Pir Khurshid Colony, Mohalla Sheikhaan, Mohalla Rangsaaz, Al-Khair Colony, and Mohalla Qadirabad, who have been facing persistent sewerage issues.
The MD also visited Junior Model School Gulgasht and Gulshan-e-Mehr Colony to assess complaints regarding poor drainage. He directed officials to deploy all available resources, including desilting operations, to resolve the complaints on a priority basis.
Special teams have been mobilized day and night at the sub-divisional level to ensure prompt sewerage maintenance. Performance reports, supported by GPS-tagged images, were also submitted to the MD by the field teams.
Sewerage lines are being cleaned in several areas including Masjid Al-Qadeer Samanabad, Ansar Colony, Qaiserabad (Street No. 2), Ali Marble Street (Khanewal Road), K Block Shah Rukn Alam Colony, Tariqabad, Gulberg Colony, and Hassan Parwana Colony.
Desilting operations have also been completed in Ghausabad (Streets 4, 7, 12), Siddique Akbar Road near Rangon Shah Bhutta, Gulzeeb Colony main line, Stadium Road, Basti Khudadad, Ansari Chowk, Bhutta Colony, and areas surrounding Kausar Oil Mill, with dozens of manholes cleaned across the city.
The MD issued strict instructions to make the cleaning campaign faster and more effective. He also directed sewerage officers to maintain close coordination with the Solid Waste Management Company to ensure timely removal of desilting material.
Khalid Raza Khan warned that negligence in the desilting campaign would not be tolerated and urged citizens not to dispose of garbage in sewerage lines and drains.
