BAHAWALPUR, Oct 16 (APP): Member of the Standing Committee on the Wildlife Department MPA Saadia Bilal paid a surprise visit to the Wildlife Department Office.
During the visit, Deputy Chief Wildlife Officer Syed Ali Usman Bukhari briefed her in detail on the current hunting situation across the division and the ongoing restrictions. He informed that hunting of any kind is currently prohibited in all three districts of the Bahawalpur Division.
He stressed that protection of wildlife is a top priority and that no leniency will be shown to those violating the imposed ban. The Deputy Chief further explained that as per departmental directives, surveillance has been intensified, with an increase in the number of checkpoints, enhanced patrolling, and a prompt response mechanism for addressing public complaints.
The Wildlife Department appealed to the general public to play their role in protecting wildlife by reporting any instances of illegal hunting. Officials assured that the identity of informants will be kept confidential. Local residents expressed concern that certain individuals involved in illegal hunting are disrupting the ecological balance, stressing the need for immediate action. The Wildlife Department reiterated that legal cases will be registered against violators and that strict measures are being taken to ensure wildlife protection.
Deputy Chief Syed Ali Usman Bukhari added that as a result of these steps, the rate of hunting in Bahawalpur Division has significantly declined, helping to create a safer and more sustainable environment for wildlife. Senior Vice President of PML-N Lawyers Forum Bilal Malik was also present on the occasion.
