LAHORE, Jul 17 (APP):The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) and the University of Management and Technology (UMT) on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote academic collaboration in the fields of history, heritage, and conservation.
The agreement aims to engage students, faculty and researchers from UMT in various heritage-related initiatives, including research projects, educational tours, workshops and joint programmes focused on the conservation and exploration of Lahore’s historic Walled City.
Under this partnership, both institutions would work together to promote awareness of Lahore’s cultural legacy and create opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience in heritage documentation, site analysis and restoration activities.
The collaboration also supports joint research publications and knowledge-sharing sessions between experts from both sides.
Speaking at the signing ceremony WCLA Maleeha Rashid said, “Through this collaboration with UMT, we aim to inspire young minds to explore, document, and preserve this invaluable heritage. This MoU is a step towards building a stronger bridge between academia and conservation efforts.”
The partnership reflects WCLA’s ongoing commitment to foster educational linkages and community involvement in the preservation of Lahore’s historic identity.
