KARACHI, Oct 24 (APP):The Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD), University of Karachi, has announced a one-month special internship program for recent medical and dental graduates and students, scheduled to be held from December 1 to 31, 2025.
This was discussed in a meeting chaired by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah, Director of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, said a spokesperson on Friday.
The meeting was informed that the program aims to provide participants with an opportunity to engage in research activities at the molecular and cellular levels and to gain preliminary proficiency in conducting clinically relevant research, formulating research questions, applying appropriate research methods, and interpreting results critically.
Prof. Raza Shah was briefed that the internees will receive training at six centers of ICCBS, including the Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research, Pharmaceutical Testing Laboratories, Jamil-ur-Rahman Center for Genomics, National Institute of Virology, Sino-Pakistan Traditional Medicine Research Center, and the Center for Bioequivalence Studies and Clinical Research.
These centers have been declared Sindh Government Healthcare Research Centers by the Provincial Minister for Health and Population Welfare.
It was also informed that successful candidates will be trained in 11 scientific areas, including bioinformatics and computational chemistry, bioequivalence studies, genomics, immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, pharmacology, proteomics, stem cell research, structural biology, and virology.
Students of M.B.B.S. / B.D.S. programs can apply by submitting their area of interest, last year’s (2024) mark sheet/marks proforma, a letter of recommendation from their head of department, and a CV to iccbsinternship@gmail.com no later than November 2, 2025.
Selected candidates will be placed in various sections of PCMD for a four-week internship. It was clarified that no stipend or remuneration will be offered to the selected internees.
