PESHAWAR, Jul 16 (APP):The monsoon trees Plantation Campaign has been officially launched in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday.
Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur inaugurated the campaign by planting a sapling on the lawn of the Chief Minister’s House.
Senior officials from the Forest Department briefed the Chief Minister about the campaign, informing him that a target of planting one million saplings across the province has been set.
Along with regular saplings, 184,000 fruit-bearing plants will also be planted during the campaign.
As per the plan, over 700,000 saplings will be planted under the supervision of the Forest Department, while over 250,000 saplings will be distributed among the public for planting.
Under the campaign, 367,000 saplings will be planted in the Malakand Forest Region, 475,000 in the Northern Forest Region, and 149,000 in the Central South Forest Region.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that forest development and conservation are essential to tackle the challenges of climate change.
He emphasized that the current provincial government is taking measures under a comprehensive strategy for the protection and promotion of forests. In this regard, the monsoon campaign holds great importance.
He appealed to the public to actively participate in the campaign and make it a success. The Chief Minister said that trees plantation was a national duty, and the public should partner with the government in this effort to provide a clean and healthy environment for future generations.
He expressed hope that through collective efforts, the dream of a clean and green Khyber Pakhtunkhwa can soon become a reality.
