LAHORE, Nov 16 (APP): Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited Lahore Airport, accompanied by Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Chaudhry Salik Hussain.
The Interior Minister expressed his displeasure at the unusually long queues at the immigration counters and issued instructions to expedite the immigration process.
According to Lahore Airport official sources, the Federal Ministers interacted with passengers, listened to their complaints and suggestions regarding the immigration process, and addressed their concerns. Chaudhry Salik Hussain also inspected the protector stickers and related documents.
During the visit, a young man, who was about to travel abroad for a job as a driver, was offloaded for not having a valid driving license. The Interior Minister ordered an investigation into the matter and assured the passenger that his money, paid to the private company, would be refunded.
In addition, Mohsin Naqvi personally rewarded the best-performing immigration officials from his own pocket and announced certificates of appreciation for them.
The Interior Minister emphasized that no passenger should be allowed to travel without the required documents. He made it clear that illegal immigration would not be tolerated under any circumstances and that anyone bringing disrepute to the country would not be allowed to travel.
He further stated that strict action would be taken against officials from the FIA or any other organization found to be involved in any wrongdoing.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain also stressed that the complete verification of documents for passengers seeking employment abroad under the Protector system is mandatory in all cases.
