RAWALPINDI, Jan 15 (APP):President of the Anjuman-e-Tajran Commercial Market Malik Sohail Awan on Thursday said work on the project to transform Commercial Market into a model market was progressing at a fast pace.
He said the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) had dismantled old electricity connections and removed transformers to facilitate the underground power supply system, adding that the installation of new connections had also begun.
Malik Sohail Awan, accompanied by Anjuman’s General Secretary Raja Zafar Yousaf, Chairman Mushtaq Mughal, Joint Secretary Tabir Ismail, Mujahid Riaz, Qari Mukhtar, Group Leader Syed Taqi Shah, Mehfooz Khan and others, inspected the ongoing work and received briefings from officials of the departments concerned.
They noted slow progress by the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd, Water and Sanitation Agency, Sui Gas and other departments, urging them to improve coordination, accelerate work and ensure timely completion of the project while maintaining quality standards.
The Anjuman’s office-bearers said the underground electricity system would enhance the market’s appearance and provide safer and improved facilities for traders and the public.
They added that a mobile licensing vehicle had also been arranged for the convenience of traders, from which a large number benefited, and that traders had appreciated the initiative and thanked the Anjuman-e-Tajran Commercial Market.
