RAWALPINDI, Oct 22 (APP): City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Hamdani inaugurated a mobile police station and licensing unit in the garrison city on Wednesday.

An inaugural ceremony was held at the Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU), where the CPO formally opened the facility and briefed students about the services being introduced through the mobile unit.

RMU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Umar, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam, Senior Traffic Officer (STO) Munir Hashmi, and other officers were also present on the occasion.

As per the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, some 33 mobile police station and licensing units have been provided for use across the province.

The mobile police station and licensing unit will offer a range of services including registration of First Information Reports (FIRs), issuance of learner and regular driving licences for motorcycles and cars, renewal and duplication of licences, and processing of international permits. The facility also provides all services available at the Khidmat Markaz.

Speaking at the event, CPO Hamdani said that driving was an essential part of freedom of movement and advised students to obtain valid driving licences through legal means. He encouraged them to benefit from the City Traffic Police driving schools for professional training.

He said the purpose of launching mobile licensing units was to empower women by ensuring convenient access to police and licensing services at their educational institutions and workplaces.

“Women are working shoulder to shoulder with men in every sphere, and the Punjab Government under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has prioritised providing facilities at their doorsteps,” he added.

The students of Rawalpindi Medical University showed keen interest in the mobile unit and availed learner licence services on the spot.
