Missing bodies of PTI's Sagheer Chughtai and driver recovered from Mangla dam:

MIRPUR [AJK]: June 19 [APP]: Exactly 10 days after the tragic accident, the bodies of AJK politician and member of AJK Legislative Assembly Sardar Sagheer Ahmed Khan Chughtai and his 37-years-old driver were recovered from Mangla dam reservoir near here Saturday.

Both of the bodies were found floating in the lake in the dam. Rescue 1122 besides the Ambulances of Edhi rushed to the site and recovered from the reservoir.

The bodies were later shifted to the Mirpur Div. Headquarter Teaching Hospital for formal medico legal proceeding for onward movement to their native Rawalakot district for burial.

Driver Muhammad Saeed s/o Muhammad Akter hailed from Naghman Pura, Bagh district.

PTI AJK President and former AJK Prime Minister Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, besides large number of people including the PTI activists also rushed the site at the bank of Mangla dam during recovery of the bodies from the reservoir.

Earlier the body of Ehtesham, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of ill-fated Sardar Sagheer Chughtai was recovered near the place where river Jhelum enters at the Mangla dam near Dadayal yesterday.

The unfortunate Member of your Azad Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly and Candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was contesting for Scheduled July 25 AJK General Elections.

Sardar Muhammad Saghir Chughtai besides three other persons, lost their lives as his vehicle skidded into Jhelum river, after colliding with another car near Azad Patan in Kahuta Sub division of Rawalpindi when he was on way to Rawalakot from Rawalpindi on June 10.

Besides the four bodies, both of the vehicles could not be traced immediately from the speeding currents of the deep river at the site despite hectic efforts by the rescue teams.

Later on the car with whom Sagheer’s vehicle reportedly collided, was recovered.

Sardar Saghir Ahmed Khan Chughtai was recently nominated as Candidate of the PTI from AJK’s Electoral Constituency LA-22 Rawalakot, Poonch Division, for AJK Legislative Assembly Elections scheduled to be held on July 25 this year.

Chughtai had, in the recent past, parted ways from the All Jammu & Kashmir Muslim Conference, and joined the PTI AJK to contest the scheduled AJK elections.
