Misbah pledges to bring forward party stalwarts, win local elections

PESHAWAR, Dec 13 (APP):The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is undertaking a massive organizational effort across Peshawar, with a focus on encouraging and promoting senior leaders and party stalwarts in every Neighborhood Council (NC).
This was announced by PPP Peshawar Division President Misbah-ud-Din during a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club here Saturday. He was accompanied by the newly elected PPP Peshawar City President, Haji Umar Khattab, and other members.
Misbah-ud-Din stated that following extensive consultation with the central and provincial leadership, Haji Umar Khattab, who had been a senior deputy in Peshawar city for 15 years, was elected as president.
He said that all the constituencies of Peshawar City had been represented in the cabinet. He said that the new cabinet took oath in the People’s Secretariat immediately after being elected.
Senior PPP leader Syed Ayub Shah also addressed the press conference, affirming the PPP’s position as a major political force and highlighting its history of sacrifices for democracy’s survival.
Responding to a question about internal dissent, Shah called differences “the beauty of democracy” and assured that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the provincial leadership would soon meet with the concerned party workers.
The newly elected PPP Peshawar City President, Haji Umar Khattab, thanked the leadership for their confidence and pledged to uphold their trust, adding that the party plans to field its established cadres in all 130 NCs for the upcoming local government elections, which he predicts the PPP will win.
