Minority Affairs dept to celebrate Christmas in grand manner

LAHORE, Dec 01 (APP):The Minority Affairs and Human Rights Department has chalked
 a schedule of several events and special activities to celebrate the Christmas season in a grand manner.
According to the schedule, a Christmas rally will be staged under leadership of Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, which will start from Girja Chowk Cantt and conclude at Liberty Chowk.
At the end of rally, a Christmas tree will also be decorated at Liberty Chowk.
Special events will be organized in educational institutions on the occasion of Christmas, while musical and sports events will also be organized under the Christmas Gala.
Events will be organised in various institutions including Punjab University, Forman Christian College University and Kinnaird College.
Provincial Minister Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora said that this year’s Christmas season would consist of unique and special events.
He said that 75,000 families were being given a quarterly grant of Rs 10,500 under the Minority Card, while several welfare initiatives including Easter Grant and e-learning program were also underway.
He further said the Chief Minister would give a grant of Rs 15,000 each to 10,000 Christian families.
Renovation of churches had also been ensured so that Christian community could perform their religious rituals in a better environment.
Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, in a media statement said the government was continuing effective measures for the welfare of minority community and the Christmas season celebrations were an important link in this regard.
