GUJRAT, Jan 08 (APP):Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister and Minister for Public Health Engineering Bilal Yaseen paid a surprise visit to Gujrat to review urban facilities and flood control measures.
Deputy Commissioner Gujrat Noor-ur-Ain Qureshi briefed the minister on the status of civic amenities and urban flooding management.
During the visit, the minister inspected the Kalara drain and assessed the four kilometer desilting operation. He directed that desilting be carried out a second time to ensure smooth water flow during rains and instructed shopkeepers not to throw garbage into drains.
The deputy commissioner said WASA’s performance had improved over the past three months and added that the newly constructed disposal station, along with ongoing desilting work, would reduce the risk of urban flooding.
The visit is part of the Punjab Chief Minister’s development program, which includes projects in Gujrat’s Zone-A to improve sewerage systems, stormwater drainage, street pavements, and other basic infrastructure
