LAHORE, Jul 16 (APP):A high-level delegation from Punjab, led by Minister for Agriculture & Livestock Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, visited Egypt’s Agricultural Research Institute to explore advancements in long staple cotton production.
During the visit, the delegation engaged with local experts, toured the Cotton Research Institute and discussed opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation aimed at improving cotton quality and expanding exports between the two countries.
The team gathered detailed insights into Egypt’s long staple cotton industry, learning that 19 Pakistani companies currently import this cotton from Egypt. They examined production technologies and assessed the quality of the cotton firsthand. Discussions also covered Egypt’s cotton export volumes and future potential.
Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to mutual cooperation for enhancing cotton quality and production.
The delegation concluded their visit with a stop at the FAO office in Cairo.
The delegation included Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture Usama Khan Leghari, Secretary Agriculture Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, Directors General Agriculture Ch. Abdul Hameed and Naveed Asmat Kahloon, Director Hqs On-Farm Water Management Hafiz Qaiser Yasin, Project Director PESP Dr. Muhammad Anjum Ali, progressive farmer Hassan Raza, and Private Secretary to the Minister Muzaffar Ali.
