Minister inspects site for University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences

PESHAWAR, Jun 22 (APP): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives, Fazal Hakim Khan on Sunday conducted a preliminary inspection of a private site in Kokarai, Swat, for the potential establishment of a temporary campus of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences.
The visit was aimed at ensuring uninterrupted academic activities for university students while the permanent campus is under construction, enabling an effective interim teaching setup.
Chairman of the District Development Advisory Committee (DDAC) Swat, Akhtar Khan Advocate, Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Shakeeb Ullah and relevant officials accompanied the provincial minister during the visit. A comprehensive briefing was given regarding the proposed site.
Speaking to the media, Fazal Hakim Khan stated that education is the foundation of a nation’s progress, and the provincial government prioritizes the educational needs of students. He emphasized that the academic progress in vital fields like veterinary sciences will not be disrupted under any circumstances, and all necessary measures are being taken by the government to support this cause.
He further clarified that the site visited is part of an initial assessment and that all technical and administrative aspects will be thoroughly considered before making a final decision. The provincial minister assured that the government is committed to safeguarding students’ valuable time and future. If the proposed site meets all academic, legal, and administrative standards, temporary classes will begin soon.
Fazal Hakim Khan also highlighted that the Veterinary University in Swat has become an important academic hub not only for local students but for the youth of the entire Malakand Division.
He added that, to further educational development and provide higher education opportunities, students enrolled in the university would be granted special concessions. This initiative aims at encouraging talented and hardworking students and to ease their financial burden, he expressed.
