Minister for timely completion of ADP Scheme

LAHORE, Nov 20 (APP):A meeting chaired by Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique reviewed progress on the Annual Development Program (ADP) schemes of the local government department at the Civil Secretariat.
Secretary Local Government Shakeel Ahmed Mian and Additional Secretary Quratul Ain gave a briefing.
Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique while stressing on keeping in mind the time frame set for the Punjab Development Program (PDP) and Murree Development Program (MDP) said that the instructions and vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz must be taken into account in the ongoing public welfare projects.
“During the last financial year, he added, “2800 schemes were completed at a cost of Rs 52 billion under the Chief Minister’s District Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) program. Alhamdulillah, all these SDGs schemes were started last year and completed within a year”.
He said that 32 schemes were completed at a cost of Rs 2.6 billion under Murree Development Programme. “Similarly, work is underway on rainwater storage and uplifting schemes of Mall Road in Murree”.
Zeeshan Rafique said that under the Chief Minister’s Maryam Nawaz Model Village Program, sewerage and drainage schemes will be completed in 800 villages. “This project, he went on, “comprising of water supply schemes and restoration of traditional water ponds in villages will cost Rs 60 billion. Initially, 550 villages
of Punjab have been selected for the Model Village Program. Children’s parks will be built along with paving the dirt streets in the villages under the same programme.
Moreover 16 schemes worth Rs 32 billion have been approved for the walled city, including drainage,
maintenance of wall, circular garden and restoration of the Neela Gumband area. “Underground parking and arcades will also be built near the Mughal-era masterpiece of Shalamar Gardens and Nasir Bagh”, he remarked. The minister directed that the Walled City Lahore Authority should complete the projects for the protection of ancient historical and cultural heritage with utmost care.
