PESHAWAR, Jun 17 (APP): Special Assistant to Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Population Welfare, Malik Liaqat Ali Khan here Tuesday discussed Maidan-Barawal Tunnel Project with officials of NESPAK.
During the meeting, engineering team from NESPAK provided a comprehensive briefing to the minister about the project’s technical report, feasibility study, preliminary design and estimated costs. The officials highlighted that the proposed tunnel would significantly reduce travel time between the two districts and greatly enhance economic, commercial, and social connectivity in the region.
The minister emphasized the long-standing public demand for the tunnel stating that Maidan to Barawal Tunnel is not just an infrastructure project but a symbol of regional development and progress. He remarked that the tunnel would bridge gap between Lower and Upper Dir, improving the quality of life for thousands of residents.
He assured that the project would be closely monitored to avoid delays and administrative hurdles. He further instructed all relevant departments to complete the cost estimates, environmental assessments, and social impact reports promptly so that the groundwork and construction phases can begin without delay.
NESPAK officials reaffirmed their commitment to treat the project as a national priority and informed that the initial stages of planning and assessment would be completed soon.
