Minister chairs meeting to review performance of Capital Metropolitan Government

PESHAWAR, Nov 21 (APP):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Local Government Mina Khan Afridi on Friday chaired a meeting of Capital Metropolitan Government Peshawar to review overall performance of the metropolitan body, city services and ongoing development projects.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Local Council Board Waheed ur Rehman and senior officials from relevant departments.
During the briefing, officials informed the minister about the departments and services operating under the metropolitan government including bus terminals, city fire brigade, educational and technical institutions, women’s skilled centers, municipal industrial homes, parks and other civic facilities.
It was told that the metropolitan government owns substantial land, commercial units, under-construction plazas and key facilities. The meeting was informed that the fire brigade has become a financial burden on the metropolitan government.
The minister expressed displeasure over unregistered vendors and directed that a complete record of all vendors and stalls must be prepared within one week. The meeting also discussed the status of ongoing commercial plaza projects, family parks, sanitation, drainage systems, road maintenance and beautification.
He said that despite millions of rupees being invested, the condition of public services in Wazir Bagh remains poor. He instructed that lighting, beautification and anti-encroachment operations on Circular Road must begin next week without delay.
