PESHAWAR, Jul 08 (APP):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Higher Education, Archives and Libraries Meena Khan Afridi and Provincial Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Syed Fakhar Jihan, presided over a joint meeting of the Higher Education Department and the Directorate of Youth Affairs on Tuesday.
The meeting, held in the committee room of the Higher Education Department, focused on strategies for the development of the province’s youth and the enhancement of graduates’ professional skills.
The meeting was attended by Special Secretary Higher Education Ghulam Saeed, Additional Secretary for Colleges Khaliq Dad, Director of Colleges Faridullah Shah, Director of Youth Affairs Dr Numan Mujahid and other relevant officials.
On this occasion, potential areas of mutual cooperation between the two departments were reviewed, particularly concerning the professional skills development of graduates and youth under higher education initiatives.
Minister Meena Khan Afridi proposed allocating land in colleges for the establishment of “Jawan Markaz” Youth Centers by the Directorate of Youth Affairs.
This initiative aims to facilitate the youth in the creation of dedicated spaces where young individuals can engage in skill-building activities.
Provincial Minister for Sports Syed Fakhar Jihan assured full support, stating that in areas where the Sports Department lacks available land, college premises under the Higher Education Department would be utilized for these centers.
He emphasized that these facilities would not only promote creative activities but also provide training aligned with modern trends.
Minister Meena Khan Afridi directed the concerned officials to further deliberate on the project and develop a joint action plan with the Youth Affairs Directorate wherever feasible.
Regarding the request to allocate a separate quota for college graduates under the Ehsaas Naujawan scheme, Minister Fakhar Jihan mentioned that formal agreements had already been reached with the Bank of Khyber and the Akhuwat Foundation. While the project is designed to benefit all youth equally.
He added that the Directorate of Youth Affairs will discuss the desired suggestion with concerned bank authorities for any possible provision, if the bank agrees,then the matters will further proceed for any decision.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to advancing youth empowerment and professional growth in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
