RAWALPINDI, Jun 26 (APP): Punjab Minister for Law and Works Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bherth on Thursday chaired an online meeting to review preparations and law & order situation regarding Muharram-ul-Haram in the Rawalpindi Division.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner and Regional Police Officer Rawalpindi, deputy commissioners and district police officers of Chakwal, Murree, Attock and Jhelum, and other officers.
Minister Bherth said that security arrangements for Muharram processions should be made keeping in mind the weather conditions, including rain.
The Rawalpindi administration officials, while giving a briefing, said that water draining equipment had been available on the routes of processions, while all security arrangements were also complete.
The organizers of processions had also been taken on board about the arrangements, they added.
The minister said that the local peace committee should be made fully active. There should be no deviation of the prescribed routes, with their compete screening before start of processions, he added.
Monitoring should be tightened at all check posts in the Rawalpindi Division, he further directed.
He also directed that focal persons should be nominated at the district level for timely rejection of fake news.
The minister said that on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, best arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram had been made across the province.
