LAHORE, Oct 08 (APP): Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari has strongly condemned the brutal killing of senior journalist Tufail Rind in Ghotki, terming it a highly tragic and condemnable incident.
In her statement on Wednesday, Azma Bokhari said that Tufail Rind, who was serving as the General Secretary of the Mirpur Mathelo Press Club, was shot dead in broad daylight while on his way to drop children at school. She added that the attack also claimed the life of his eight-year-old niece, making the incident even more heartbreaking.
The Minister noted that just a few weeks ago, another young journalist was murdered in Sindh, which, she said, clearly indicates that journalists are being systematically targeted in the province.
Azma Bokhari warned that the successive killings of journalists represent a dangerous attempt to spread fear and intimidation within the media community. “No words are enough to condemn these incidents,” she stated.
She urged the Sindh government to ensure the immediate arrest of those responsible and to take effective measures for the safety and protection of journalists across the province.
