SIALKOT, Apr 05 (APP):Federal Minister for Defence, Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Sunday inaugurated mega development projects worth of billions of rupees across the district.
Speaking to the media at the inauguration ceremony, he said that under the special attention of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a comprehensive development package has been provided for the city. He added that over the next three years, a clear transformation will be seen in the appearance of the “City of Iqbal” (Sialkot).
He said that the journey of development will continue under Maryam Nawaz’s leadership and that in the next elections, they will present a report card reflecting the country’s progress.
The Defence Minister also issued a strong message to India, saying that India is in a state of panic and confusion. He warned that if India carries out a false flag operation like Pahalgam, Pakistan would respond forcefully, even reaching Kolkata.
Regarding development projects, he said the package includes a beautification and renovation project around Iqbal Manzil costing over 16 billion rupees. Additionally, modern machinery worth 640 million rupees has been approved to improve the city’s sanitation system.
In light of the destruction caused by last year’s floods, reconstruction of drainage channels is underway to ensure long-term safety for the city. For heritage restoration, a park worth 300 million rupees will be built at Sialkot Fort, while 100 million rupees will be spent on upgrading Iqbal Manzil. The construction of 380 disposal stations will also help resolve drainage issues.
The Defence Minister expressed concern over the situation in the Middle East, stating that significant funds will be required to mitigate the potential impacts of a conflict between Iran and Israel.
