PESHAWAR, Jul 17 (APP):In a major step toward sustainable water management, the Mingora Water Treatment Plant, a key project under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project (KPCIP), will soon provide clean drinking water to around 850,000 households by treating water from the Swat River.
This shift from groundwater to river water aims to reduce pressure on underground reserves while ensuring a reliable water supply.
Chief Engineer Zeeshan Prevail highlighted the project’s long-term benefits, stating, “This initiative ensures safe drinking water while preserving groundwater for future generations.”
The project, led by the Local Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, also supports tourism and sustainable urban development in Swat. Once operational, the plant will enhance public health and infrastructure, catering to the region’s growing water needs in an eco-friendly manner.
