KARACHI, Oct 30 (APP): A delegation from Meta called on Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori at the Governor House on Thursday.
Welcoming the delegation, the Governor said that Pakistan, with a population of over 240 million, does not yet have a Meta office, while establishing the first Meta office in a city like Karachi — with a population of nearly 30 million — is the need of the hour.
During the meeting, both sides held detailed discussions on youth training, development of the IT sector, and avenues for mutual cooperation.
The Meta Director appreciated the Governor’s Initiatives for offering advanced IT courses free of cost, calling them an inspiring and exemplary effort.
The delegation also visited the IT Marquee established at the Governor House and met with students enrolled in modern IT courses.
They lauded the students’ enthusiasm and eagerness to learn. It was shared that more than 50,000 young people are currently receiving free advanced IT training under the Governor’s Initiative.
Governor Sindh invited Meta to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a structured system for the training of students and teachers. He emphasized that the promotion of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is vital for Pakistan’s economic strength and that through his initiatives, efforts to equip youth with modern digital skills are progressing successfully.
Governor Sindh added that the goal is to increase Pakistan’s IT exports from $40 million to $40 billion, enabling the country to showcase its talent in the global market. He expressed hope that Meta would play a significant role in shaping a brighter future for Pakistani youth.
The Governor further stated that over the past year, ambassadors, diplomats, and business leaders have been invited to meet students at the Governor House to boost their confidence and motivation. “The day is not far when our youth will be earning thousands of dollars,” he added.
