Mepco suspends danger allowance of 6 officials

MULTAN, Oct 31 (APP): Six officials of the Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) were penalised after being found performing high-risk duties without following mandatory safety protocols, a company spokesman said on Friday. Their danger allowance’ has been suspended for one month as disciplinary action.
According to the spokesman, the officials were strictly warned to wear proper uniforms and use the prescribed Tools and Protective Equipment (T&P) while on field duty. They were also cautioned that any repeat violation would result in stricter departmental action.
On the orders of SE Operations Amjad Nawaz Bhatti, SDO Safety Rana Muhammad Imran and Safety Officer Qaisar Sajjad Bhutta inspected safety compliance in Wapda Town and Nawan Sheher sub-divisions. During the inspection, lineman-II Muhammad Shafiq and assistant lineman Shahid Aziz were found working without gloves and uniforms while installing three-phase meters in Wapda Town. Similarly, at Nawan Sheher, lineman-I Muhammad Abdullah, lineman-II Tanweer Hussain and Muhammad Shahid, and assistant lineman Allah Ditta were found working without uniforms.
The inspection team reminded the officials that “existence has no second draft,” emphasizing that Mepco prioritizes worker safety above all else and expects full adherence to safety SOPs to prevent life-threatening incidents.
