Mepco dismisses revenue officer, penalizes 4 staffers

MULTAN, Jul 28 (APP):Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) administration dismissed a revenue officer from service and awarded penalties on four other employees after deciding departmental disciplinary cases under the Pakistan Wapda Employees Efficiency and Discipline (E&D) Rules.
According to Mepco spokesman, chief engineer (Operation & Maintenance) Transmission and Grid, Muhammad Akram Siyal, ordered the dismissal of revenue officer Hidayat Hussain of Mepco first division, Sahiwal, for prolonged unauthorized absence from duty.
Hidayat Hussain had remained absent since Oct 3, 2025. Despite being served repeated notices, he neither resumed duty nor submitted any explanation, leading to his dismissal in the wake of departmental proceedings.
In other cases, line superintendent-I Muhammad Farrukh Shahbaz Lodhi of Qasba Maral sub-division in Multan was demoted to the post of line superintendent-II for two years after charges against him were proved during an inquiry.
Similarly, lineman-II Muhammad Ajmal was awarded a two-grade reduction in his existing pay scale for two years, while assistant lineman Mahtab Ashiq received a one-grade reduction in his current pay scale for one year.
Meanwhile, sub divisional officer (SDO) Abdul Qayyum of Qasba Maral sub-division was issued a warning.
