BAHAWALPUR, Jul 12 (APP):A meeting of the District Emergency Response Committee for Dengue Prevention was held under the chair of Additional Deputy Commissioner Finance Farooq Qamar in the DC Office committee room.
The meeting reviewed the actions taken from June 24 to July 8 regarding dengue prevention. Director Health Services Dr Tanveer Shah, CEO Health Dr Aamir, District Focal Person Dr Qudsia Anwar, AMS Bahawal Victoria Hospital, AMS Sir Syed Muhammad Khan Abbasi Hospital, Entomologist Shahnaz Kausar, relevant department officers, and focal persons attended the meeting, while Assistant Commissioners participated via video link. Additional Deputy Commissioner Finance emphasized the implementation of preventive measures against dengue.
He stressed the need for cleanliness, especially in roof spaces, and to ensure no stagnant water. Improvements in Android user activities were also mentioned. He said that surveillance for dengue larvae should be done regularly, and members of indoor and outdoor teams must work efficiently in the field. Hotspots for dengue spread should be covered completely.
He also instructed to hold regular meetings of the tehsil level Emergency Response Committees for Dengue prevention. District Focal Person Dr Qudsia Anwar briefed that from January 1 to July 8, as many as 3925 suspected dengue cases were reported district-wide. During the surveillance period, Dengue was found in 23 locations.
1806 hotspots related to Dengue were identified throughout the district. A total of 520 indoor and outdoor teams are actively engaging in Dengue prevention activities in the field.
