PESHAWAR, Jul 09 (APP):Minister for Higher Education, Meena Khan Afridi on Wednesday chaired first meeting of special committee that was formed by provincial cabinet to review the ongoing reforms in the higher education sector of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Agriculture Sajjad Barkawal, Advisor on Health Ihtesham Ali, and senior officials from relevant departments.
The purpose of the meeting was to review the ongoing reforms in the higher education sector including recent amendments to University Act and to explore ways to align it with other prevailing laws.
It was agreed during the meeting that the current University Act including its recent amendments would be compared with other relevant legislation. Based on this review, recommendations would be developed to make the working mechanism between the government and universities more effective, coherent and transparent.
On this occasion, Meena Khan Afridi stated that a comprehensive policy is being formulated in consultation with all stakeholders to align the higher education sector with modern requirements so that universities can progress with autonomy within a strong legal and administrative framework.
