Meeting held to enhance city beautification

BAHAWALPUR, Oct 17 (APP): A meeting was held here on Friday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Farhan Farooq to discus enhancing beautification of Bahawalpur city, attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Muhammad Tayyab, Deputy Director Development Faisal Shahzad, Assistant Commissioner City Khaleel Ahmed, and officers from the Walled City Authority, Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), District Council Bahawalpur, and Municipal Corporation.
During the meeting, participants discussed various proposals and initiatives to improve the urban environment, ensure cleanliness, and beautify main roads, intersections, and green belts across the city. The Deputy Commissioner directed that all streetlights on main roads be kept fully functional to ensure proper illumination during nighttime. He also emphasized the installation and maintenance of road reflectors to enhance traffic safety and flow. It was further decided that regular trimming and maintenance of plants along green belts and medians should be carried out to improve the city’s aesthetic appeal and maintain a clean and pleasant atmosphere.
Dr. Farhan Farooq instructed that a special beautification plan be prepared for major intersections, which will include decorative lighting, fountains, and modern landscaping designs. He urged all relevant departments to work in close coordination and ensure timely implementation of these projects.The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the beautification of Bahawalpur is a shared responsibility, not only of the administration but also of the citizens. “Together, we must strive to make Bahawalpur a clean, beautiful, and modern city,” he said. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed officers to visit the field to review ongoing beautification and development works and submit progress reports accordingly.
