Measles & Rubella Vaccination Campaign to Kick Off in Sukkur on November

SUKKUR, Nov 03 (APP):A  comprehensive measles and rubella vaccination campaign is set to begin on November 17 in Sukkur Division, aiming to inoculate over 880,000 children in the region.
The 12-day campaign, which will conclude on November 29, is a collaborative effort between the health department and local authorities.
Commissioner Sukkur Division, Abid Saleem Qureshi on Monday chaired a meeting to review preparations for the campaign, attended by elected representatives, local dignitaries, and health officials.
 The meeting decided to seek the support of elected representatives, community leaders, and local influencers to ensure the campaign’s success.
According to officials, the campaign targets children aged between 6 months and 5 years in Sukkur, Khairpur, and Ghotki districts.
The breakdown of targeted children is as follows: Sukkur (238,955), Khairpur (381,964), and Ghotki (259,554).
Addressing the meeting, Commissioner Qureshi emphasized the importance of making the campaign a success, utilizing all available resources. He directed officials to ensure the active participation of all stakeholders, including community leaders and local influencers.
The Commissioner also warned that any negligence during the campaign would be unacceptable and instructed Assistant Commissioners to take action against parents who refuse to vaccinate their children.
The vaccination campaign will be carried out at nearby health centers, temporary community sites, and through mobile vaccination teams. Additionally, children will be vaccinated at government and private schools.
The meeting also decided to cover children who missed polio drops during the polio campaign.
Deputy Director EPI, Dr. Arsalan, briefed the meeting on the campaign’s arrangements, stating that vaccinators, nurses, Lady Health Workers, and technicians would be involved in the campaign.
