MULTAN, Oct 14 (APP):Director General of the Multan Development Authority (MDA), Rashid Irshad Hussain, reaffirmed his commitment to promoting youth sports and healthy activities, emphasizing that Pakistan is rich in talent and only needs the right platforms to bring it to the forefront.
Speaking at the award distribution ceremony of the PCB Talent Hunt Program for Schools 2025, held at Multan Cricket Ground (MCG) in Nawan Shehar, he commended the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for organizing school-level cricket tournaments with excellent arrangements. He said that such initiatives play a vital role in channeling the potential of the younger generation toward constructive goals. He added that promoting sports not only nurtures physical health but also helps youth steer clear of the negative influences of excessive social media use.
The event began with a welcome address by Coordinator Muhammad Manzoor Latifi. Other notable attendees included Secretary of the Multan District Cricket Association Amjad Razaq Bhutta and cricket organizers Muhammad Jameel and Kamran.
In the final match, Pilot School defeated Muslim School Kalma Chowk by 20 runs to win the District Championship. Batting first, Pilot School posted a total of 248 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Umer Mukhtiar led the innings with a 90-run performance, while Muhammad Ishaq and Zohaib Khan added 37 and 33 runs respectively. For Muslim School, Faheem Ahmad claimed three wickets, while Obaid-ur-Rehman, Rana Ali, and Abdul Rehman took one wicket each.
In reply, Muslim School scored 228 runs for eight wickets. Shehryar Abbas top-scored with 79 runs, followed by Ahmed Hassan and Obaid-ur-Rehman with 43 runs each. Pilot School’s bowling attack was led by Irfan Shehzad, who took two wickets, while Muzammil Javed, Zohaib Khan, Muhammad Ishaq, and Muhammad Sufyan each secured one wicket.
Match officiating was handled by umpires Muhammad Asif Junior and Bilal Hanif, while Muhammad Hamza served as the scorer.
At the conclusion of the event, awards were distributed to standout performers. Muhammad Sufyan was named Best Bowler, Shehryar Hassan earned the Best Batter award, and Muhammad Umer was recognized as Best Wicketkeeper. Team captains Muhammad Umer and Ahmed Hassan Khilji received the trophies for winner and runner-up, respectively. A souvenir shield was presented to Rashid Irshad Hussain by the tournament committee in appreciation of his support for youth cricket development in Multan.
