MCCI, MNSUA discuss establishing agro industry based Centre of Excellence

MULTAN, Jul 22 (APP):Pakistan is facing severe water shortage for which university graduates, particularly those from agro-based engineering programmes, will play a crucial role to address this issues to avoid a major crisis.
Speaking at seminar on Agro based Industry held at Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Dean Agricultural Engineering MNSUA, Dr Alamgir Khan said that when a problem arises in the world, universities are contacted for research; we must follow the same path. We suggest establishing a “Center of Excellence” at MNS Agricultural University in consultation with the region’s industry.
The seminar was attended by Sheikh Muhammad Asim Saeed, Vice President MCCI, Dr. Shafqat, Malik Israr Awan, Muhammad Tariq Khan, Zafar Hussain Zafar Mahe, Zahid Gardezi, Rabnawaz Malik, Syed Saqib Ali, and others.
Dr. Alamgir stated that we should aim to export agricultural machinery to African countries, which are making significant strides in the agricultural sector and represent a large market for agricultural machinery.
Former President of the Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Malik Israr Awan, in his speech, said that the agro-based engineering programmes initiated at Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture (MNSUA) will prove its worth when the demand for agricultural graduates from this programme increases, as many people are still unaware of its importance.
Acting Vice Chancellor of MNSAU, Professor Dr. Shafqat, said that in consultation with the regional industry, we are ready to offer short courses tailored to their needs.
Our institution places greater emphasis on practical education, and the future belongs to agriculture. Vice President MCCI, Sheikh Muhammad Asim Saeed, said that the “Center of Excellence” is also among our priorities. There is a vast scope in agriculture, and providing modern education and skilled manpower in this sector will be a significant service to the region. The Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry has always supported agriculture and farmers and will continue to play its role in the development of agriculture.
