Mayor briefed on mega schemes, development projects underway across Karachi
KARACHI, Oct 05 (APP):Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab chaired an important meeting of the Engineering Department of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), where he was given a detailed briefing on the mega schemes and other development projects currently underway across the city.
During the meeting, Mayor Karachi directed that clear deadlines be set for the completion of all ongoing development works in the city.
He said that large-scale development works are currently being carried out in different parts of Karachi and all these projects should be completed at the earliest so that citizens can benefit from them.
Barrister Murtaza Wahab said, “We are currently carrying out development works across the city, and these works should be completed as soon as possible.”
He directed that, along with the timely completion of development projects, proper finishing and quality workmanship should also be ensured.
He further instructed the concerned officials to continuously monitor the progress of ongoing projects and set completion dates for each project to ensure timely execution. Unnecessary delays in any project would not be tolerated.
He said that along with the rehabilitation of roads, the restoration of streetlights was equally important. To ensure the provision of better infrastructure to citizens, proper lighting arrangements should also be made alongside the development of roads, footpaths and other civic facilities.
The Mayor Karachi directed the concerned officials to ensure that quality standards were maintained in all development projects and that finishing and all other necessary works were completed satisfactorily in projects nearing completion.
Municipal Commissioner KMC Abrar Jafar, Finance Adviser Gulzar Abro, Director General Technical Services Tariq Mughal and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
The meeting also reviewed the current status of ongoing development projects across the city, their stages of completion and the future course of action.
