PESHAWAR, Nov 20 (APP):A comprehensive master plan has been presented in a national workshop for promotion of tourism in Swat district.
The master plan was presented by officials of Upper Swat Development Authority in a workshop held at Kalam, a well-known tourist destination in Swat.
The workshop was presided over by the Director General of the Upper Swat Development Authority, Shoaib Abbas.
Chairman of Tehsil Bahrain Shahid Ali, local elders, journalists, representatives of various government departments, officials of the Urban Policy Unit of the Planning & Development Department, National Engineering Services Pakistan, and other relevant officers among the attendees.
During the workshop, a detailed briefing was given on the comprehensive Tourism Master Plan prepared for major tourist locations in Upper Swat, including Madain, Bahrain, Mankiyal, Kalam, and Mahodand.
The briefing highlighted the current state of tourism, future needs, and developmental priorities.
Addressing the workshop, Director General Shoaib Abbas said that the master plan is being developed in collaboration with the Upper Swat Development Authority and NESPAK.
Its main objectives are to prevent illegal constructions, improve sewage and waste management systems, reduce environmental pollution, and strengthen infrastructure.
He said that as a result of this master plan, tourists will be provided with world-class facilities, while new opportunities for employment and development will emerge for the local population.
According to him, the project will also bring positive changes to the regional economy.
Appealing for cooperation from government departments as well as local residents, Shoaib Abbas said that everyone must maintain close coordination with the Urban Policy Unit, NESPAK, and the Upper Swat Development Authority to ensure effective and timely implementation of the project.
Concluding his address, he said that Swat is a globally renowned tourist destination, and the provincial government is committed to promoting tourism while preserving natural beauty.
According to him, the master plan is not only a means to promote tourism but also a comprehensive strategy for protecting natural resources for future generations.
