Masses reject extremism: Minister Sikandar Hayat

MULTAN, Jul 17 (APP):Provincial minster for Education Rana Sikandar Hayat said on Wednesday that all segments of our society had rejected extremism and violence.
The minister for education said this while visiting “Ghanta Ghar” Chowk and Haram Gate to check the security arrangements related to Muharram processions. He stated that Muharram processions in Multan were proceeding peacefully. He stated that the Punjab government was strictly adhering to a zero-tolerance policy to maintain law and order.
He commended the administration and police for their exemplary arrangements for Muharram. Commissioner  Multan Maryam Khan also spoke and informed that 224 Majalis and 283 processions were being held across the division.
Commissioner Multan also observe that he had issued a red alert for sensitive processions and Majalis. RPO Multan Captain (R) Suhail Chaudhry stated that over 10,000 personnel were deployed for security duties. Deputy Commissioner Multan Wasim Hamid shared the installation of 180 CCTV cameras at key locations throughout the city.
Representatives from all departments are present in the control room, ensuring smooth coordination, stated Wasim Hamid Sandhu. From the central control room at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, continuous monitoring is being carried out.
Members of the Peace Committee and religious scholars are actively supporting the administration in maintaining peace, said Deputy Commissioner.
