MULTAN, Jul 01 (APP):The Multan Mango Growers Association (MMGA) urged authorities for the immediate appointment of the vice chancellor at Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture, Multan (MNSUAM), highlighting the impact of the leadership vacuum on higher education and agricultural development in South Punjab.
In a press statement, the association expressed concern over the delay in the appointment of the vice chancellor, adding that the university had remained without a permanent head for over one-and-a-half years.
Recalling the university’s past progress, the association praised the leadership of former Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Asif Ali under whom the MNSUAM made significant contributions to the agricultural sector.
These included enhancing crop productivity and initiating key research collaborations that supported farmers across South Punjab.
The association also highlighted the university’s crucial role in increasing the production of cotton, wheat, maize, sugarcane, and especially mangoes. Over 25 million mango saplings were planted during Dr Asif Ali’s tenure, making mangoes more affordable despite growing climate challenges.
