RAJANPUR, Feb 24 (APP):District and Sessions Judge Rajanpur Muhammad Azam Rana awarded death penalty to
a man in a murder case registered at Sadar Police Station Rajanpur.
The convict, Khalil Ahmed alias Ghazi Abbas, a resident of Kotla Ehsan, was sentenced to death
under Section 302(b) of the Pakistan Penal Code for the murder of 28-year-old Muhammad Matloob of Kotla Naseer.
The court also directed the convict to pay Rs 500,000 as compensation to the legal heirs of the deceased under Section 544-A of the Criminal Procedure Code. In case of default, he will undergo an additional six months’ imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, the motive behind the murder stemmed from a personal dispute. The deceased had married a woman from Lahore eight years ago and suspected the accused of allegedly making his wife disappear from Fazilpur and returning her to her parents.
On the day of the incident, Matloob went to the accused’s sitting place and demanded an explanation or a proposal of marriage in return. An argument ensued, after which Khalil Ahmed allegedly fetched a 30-bore pistol from his house and fired three shots at the victim, hitting him in the head and back. The victim died on the spot.
