LAHORE, Sep 16 (APP):The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Lahore has arrested a man for allegedly disseminating false and misleading information about state institutions through social media.
According to the NCCIA, the suspect, identified as Muhammad Sarwar Arif, of Lahore, was arrested during an investigation into his alleged involvement in spreading misleading content concerning state institutions.
The agency said three mobile phones were recovered from the suspect and sent for forensic examination to retrieve and analyse further digital evidence.
The spokesperson said investigations and enforcement actions against individuals allegedly involved in disseminating false, misleading or unsubstantiated information about state institutions through social media were continuing.
Investigators are examining the recovered devices for digital material, social media activity and other evidence to determine the nature and extent of the alleged activity.
The investigation would also establish whether the dissemination of the content was part of any wider activity and whether the suspect had links or associations with other individuals allegedly involved in similar activities.
The spokesperson said legal action against violations committed through cyberspace would continue in accordance with the law, adding that further proceedings would be based on evidence recovered during the digital forensic examination.
