MULTAN, Jul 25 (APP):The police have solved a blind murder of an elderly woman within 24 hours in the City Jalalpur jurisdiction and arrested the accused for killing grandmother.
CPO Multan Sadiq Ali Dogar took immediate notice of the incident and ordered swift action. Under the supervision of Acting SSP Operations Kainat Azhar (SP Cantt), SP Sadar Shamsuddin and DSP Jalalpur Mian Rauf, SHO Muhammad Adnan and his team, along with a forensic unit, skillfully identified and arrested the accused, Muhammad Akbar, grandson of the deceased.
Holding a press conference on Friday, CPO Sadiq Ali Dogar said that, on July 23, 2025, complainant Muhammad Aslam reported finding his mother dead in her locked room with clear signs of strangulation. Jewelry and cash were missing, and a case (FIR 25/1299 under sections 392/302) was registered.
Police preserved the crime scene, collected forensic evidence, and interrogated close relatives. Suspicion led to the victim’s grandson, who confessed to murdering his 75-year-old grandmother, Shamoon Mai, for jewelry and cash. The stolen items were recovered from his possession.
The CPO praised the team’s professional and timely efforts, calling it a significant step toward restoring public trust and ensuring justice.
