RAWALPINDI, Jan 23 (APP):In a high-profile murder case, the Additional Sessions court on Friday sentenced Murad Khan death sentence by hanging under Section 302(b) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
The court, presided by the Additional Sessions Judge, Afshan Ijaz Sufi, also fined the convict to pay Rs 1 million as compensation to the legal heirs of the deceased under Section 544-A of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). In case of non-payment, the amount will be recovered as arrears of land revenue.
The FIR, No.1224 was registered in July 2023 at Rawat Police Station, alleging Murad Khan committed premeditated murder, leading to charges under the murder section of the PPC.
According to the details, the criminal opened direct fire at Arsalan while he was buying some goods at a bakery in Basali area of Rawat. The victim was being taken to Rawalpindi’s hospital but he couldn’t survive the serious injuries and died before reaching the hospital.
The police chief, CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani commended the police investigating and legal teams for securing the major punishment for the criminal.
