Man awarded 7-year-RI for blackmailing girl

FAISALABAD, Jul 16 (APP):Additional Sessions Judge/Judge Special Court Anti-Rape Muhammad Iqbal Haral convicted a blackmailer of seven-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) and fine of Rs. 500,000.
According to the prosecution, accused Suleman Murtaza of Ali Housing Colony shared objectionable pictures of a married girl through whatsapp. The accused obtained girl’s pictures from her out-of-order mobile phone under guise of repairing it and he also blackmailed and forced the girl for developing illicit relations with him.
On a complaint, the FIA had registered a case under sections 20, 21 and 24 of Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2026 and Assistant Director FIA Asif Nazir after completing investigation submitted challan in the competent court of law.
After observing evidence and witnesses, the Additional Sessions Judge/Judge Special Court Anti-Rape Muhammad Iqbal Haral awarded 2 years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and a fine of Rs.100,000 to accused Suleman Murtaza under Section 20 of PECA 2016. In case of default of payment, the convict would have to undergo an additional imprisonment of three months.
The learned judge also awarded 3-year RI and a fine of Rs. 300,000 to the accused under Section 21 of PECA 2016. The convict will have to undergo six-month imprisonment if he failed to pay fine.
The learned court also awarded two-year RI and a fine of Rs. 100,000 under Section 24 of PECA and the convict will have to undergo an additional imprisonment of three months in case of default on payment.
