MULTAN, Jul 13 (APP):Punjab Secretary livestock Muhammad Masood Anwar has said that local breeds of big and small ruminant possessed enormous potential to take Pakistan’s milk and meat production to new highs.
During a visit to the Livestock Complex in Multan, he said that the initiatives announced by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, as part of Punjab budget 2024-25, would speed up the Livestock development plan proceedings.
Masood Anwar specifically mentioned the Livestock card initiative for cattle rearers that makes their access to interest-free Rs 270,000 worth of quality muneral mixture and ‘Wanda’ easy to fatten their animals and free distribution of cattle heads among poor women.
Secretary Masood Anwar received a detailed briefing from Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, the director ERP livestock south Punjab during visit to different sections of livestock complex Multan.
Masood Anwar said that utilizing modern breeding technologies and techniques would help the country harness true potential of local breeds of small ruminants and large animals but stressed that it would need continuous attention to their breeding to make it happen.
Secretary Livestock also stressed the necessity of implementing practical measures to enhance animal production through the use of quality semen, improved management practices, and better nutrition.
