MUZAFFARGARH , Jun 20 (APP): The district administration took swift action after a lizard was reportedly found in a serving of dahi bhallay ordered by staff of a private bank in Muzaffargarh, prompting public concern over food safety.
Deputy Commissioner Qurat-ul-Ain Memon and Director Operations South Punjab Shehzad Magsi took immediate notice of the incident. Following directives, Deputy Director Operations, accompanied by a Punjab Food Authority (PFA) team, inspected the food outlet located at Tabakiyan Chowk.
During the inspection, multiple violations were found, and the popular eatery was sealed on the spot. A hefty fine was also imposed for negligence and poor hygiene practices, according to Director Operations Shehzad Khan Magsi.
The food safety team collected samples of dahi bhallay and other fast food items for laboratory analysis to ensure further compliance with health standards.
Shehzad Magsi emphasized that strict action will be taken against those endangering public health, stating, “There will be zero tolerance for such carelessness.”
Deputy Commissioner Qurat-ul-Ain Memon reiterated the administration’s commitment to food safety, stating, “Protecting public health is our top priority, and no negligence will be tolerated.”
Further investigation is underway, and results of food sampling are awaited.
