RAWALPINDI, Jul 28 (APP):A literary event was held in honor of renowned poet, critic and researcher Dr. Obaid Bazgh Amar in collaboration with Rawalpindi Arts Council, Bazm Ahbab Qalam Pakistan.
The event was organized to mark the recent PhD of Dr. Obaid Bazgh Amar and was presided over by renowned poet Khawar Ijaz. Dr. Zahid Hassan Chughtai and Ali Muhammad Farshi were the special guests of the event. While Nasir Abbas Chaudhry and Dr. Khaliq-ur-Rehman were the guests of honor.
The event was directed by Ayub Joseph and Malik Asif Nawaz.
Qazi Arif Hussain, Dr. Khaliq-ur-Rehman, Nir Sarhadi, Muhammad Akbar Niazi, Khalid Bhutral, Shahidi Urfi, Farid Zahid, Rukhsana Nazi, Iqbal Malik Advocate, and other prominent writers expressed their views and said that Obaid Bazgh Amar is an important poet who emerged in the 90s in terms of ghazal and nazm. His poems are unique in that they have collected poetic traditions from Meera Ji, Rashid, Faiz Sahir to Habib Jalib and Ahmed Faraz. He gave a strong tone of resistance to modern Urdu poetry and created masterpieces like Zard Sahifa, Facebook, Idhar Choti Si Basti Thi, and Sal e Nau.
The poems included in his first poetry collection, Agar Main Asmaan Hota, were well received by the art community. While the second poetry collection, Mohabbat Naam Hai Mera, is in the final stages of printing. The Bazm President, Ali Asghar Samar thanked the participants and guests and presented Dr. Obaid Bazgh Amar with an honorary shield on behalf of Bazm.
