LG minister reviews sanitation situation, urban services in KP cities

PESHAWAR, Jul 23 (APP):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Local Government (LG), Arshad Ayub Khan on Wednesday chaired a meeting to review the sanitation situation and provision of urban services in various cities of the province.
The meeting was attended by Secretary LG, Saqib Raza Aslam, Chief Executive Officers of Water and Sanitation Services Companies (WSSCs) from Peshawar, Mardan, Abbottabad, Swat and Bannu besides other relevant officials.
 During the meeting, representatives from the WSSCs highlighted issues such as staff shortages and other administrative challenges.
The minister listened to their concerns and assured that a detailed assessment of the required workforce would be carried out and necessary steps be taken. He also directed all representatives of the WSSCs to regularly submit monthly performance reports. He issued instructions that the door-to-door garbage collection service must be made functional within two days. Furthermore, he emphasized that the organizations should move toward self-sufficiency and devise result oriented strategies to assure smart solutions.
The provincial minister stressed the need to establish better coordination and an integrated system among all institutions and boards working under the LG to enhance service delivery and prevent resource wastage. “We need to find solutions that are not only effective but also sustainable. Performance, modernization, and institutional harmony are the keys to success,” he said.
