LAHORE, Oct 17 (APP):A two-day ‘Leadership Development Programme’ concluded successfully at the Executive Development Institute (EDI) of the National School of Public Policy (NSPP) on Friday.
The program, held from October 16 to 17, brought together senior officials and decision-makers from both public and private sectors to enhance leadership capacity and professional excellence.
A diverse group of 50 participants attended from across Pakistan, representing federal and provincial government departments, private enterprises, and academia. Among the institutions represented were the Senate of Pakistan, National Assembly, Establishment Division, Ministry of Law and Justice, PEMRA, PEC, WAPDA, HEC, EOBI, ML&C, CSA, LWMC, NPPMCL, Peshawar High Court, Forman Christian College University, Lahore Garrison University, Sindh Bank, and NSPP-Lahore, among others.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Naveed Elahi, Dean EDI, emphasized that the Leadership Development Program aims to strengthen professional leadership skills, focusing on team dynamics, motivation, innovation, and emotional intelligence. He said the initiative encourages learning through interaction and collaboration.
Dr. Jamil Afaqi, Rector NSPP, welcomed participants and highlighted the institute’s commitment to promoting leadership excellence and effective governance. He urged participants to reflect on their leadership styles and engage wholeheartedly for a meaningful learning experience.
Mr. Kamran Ahmad, Director EDI, presented an overview of the Institute’s strategic goals and highlighted its inclusive approach in selecting expert facilitators from professional, academic, and training backgrounds to ensure a holistic perspective on emerging challenges.
Distinguished guest speakers on the first day included Dr. Allah Bakhsh Malik, Dr. Ishrat Hussain, Mr. Kamran Lashari, and Prof. Dr. Sa’ad B. Malik, who discussed themes such as team dynamics, leadership in the public sector, innovation, communication, and emotional intelligence.
The second day featured insightful sessions by Dr. Muhammad Abdur Rahman Malik from LUMS on “Conflict Management & Negotiation Skills,” Air Commodore (R) Khalid Chishti on “Leadership Styles & Team Effectiveness,” and Dr. Rizwan Basharat on “AI and Emerging Technologies for Leaders.”
In his closing remarks, Rector Dr. Jamil Afaqi underscored the importance of vision, influence, and collaboration as essential elements of effective leadership. He commended the participants for their enthusiasm and encouraged them to lead with integrity and inclusivity to contribute to national progress.
The program concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, where Rector NSPP and Dean EDI presented certificates to participants in recognition of their active participation and commitment to professional growth.
