MANSEHRA, Jul 22 (APP):Heavy landslides struck the Jalkhad and Basar areas of Naran Valley late last night, resulting in the complete blockage of the Gilgit Highway.
In response, the District Administration of Mansehra promptly launched an emergency rescue and relief operation.
The coordinated operation involved the Tehsil Administration, revenue staff, district police, National Highway Authority (NHA), Kaghan Development Authority (KDA), Rescue 1122, various government departments, and members of the local community.
During the operation, several stranded tourists were successfully rescued along with their vehicles. Food packages were also distributed among the affected tourists with special support from the Pakistan Army. Authorities managed to create alternative routes to restore traffic flow.
Through the collective efforts of all departments, tourists trapped due to the landslides were safely evacuated during the night via the MNJ Road. Meanwhile, the removal of remaining debris and boulders continues.
The District Administration Mansehra has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and service of residents and visitors in the region.
