LAHORE, Nov 17 (APP): The average AQI of the provincial capital was 184, unhealthy by international standards as PM2.5 concentration was 20.4 times the World Health Organization annual PM2.5 guideline value.
The extraordinary improvement in November was proof of Punjab government’s fast-track smog policy. 41 hi-tech monitoring stations, drone surveillance, smog guns, advanced EPF force—Punjab’s anti-smog network has become a model in the region. Emergency action by EPA Punjab continued, all construction activities in high pollution zones were immediately stopped and zero tolerance for industries was shown.
Strict action on garbage burning, illegal encroachments and illegal parking was also ensured and waste management companies were shifted to ‘red zone operation’ mode.
