LAHORE, Oct 08 (APP):A close associate of the notorious Ladi Gang was killed during an exchange of fire with police late Tuesday night in the jurisdiction of Kala Police Station, Dera Ghazi Khan.
According to police spokesman, the suspect, identified as Umar alias Umar Khosa, was a wanted criminal with a history of involvement in multiple heinous crimes, including attempted murder and armed robbery.
Police said the incident occurred during routine patrolling near Kachi Canal on Kochha Ko Kari Road, when officers encountered three armed men riding a motorcycle. The suspects allegedly opened fire on the police team, prompting a retaliatory response.
Following a brief exchange of gunfire, one of the suspects—later identified as Umar Khosa—was found dead.
According to initial police assessment, he may have been hit by bullets fired by his own accomplices during the shootout. The remaining suspects managed to flee the scene.
Law enforcement officials recovered a motorcycle and a Kalashnikov rifle from the site.
District Police Officer Captain (retd) Tariq Vilayat lauded the timely and professional action of the Kala Police team and reiterated the department’s resolve to continue targeted operations until the complete dismantling of the Ladi Gang and other criminal elements in the region.
